A: Residential Aged Care is for seniors who can no longer live independently at home. It includes accommodation and personalized round the clock care. Residential aged care can also be called a nursing home. Q: How do I access Aged Care? A: Once you’ve decided it’s time to look for an Aged Care home, you can initiate the process in just a few steps: 1) Determine your care eligibility through an Aged Care Assessment. 2) Explore possible facilities, care options and financing details. 3) Choose your preferred provider and submit an application. 4) Review your offer of acceptance and sign the agreement with your new provider. 5) Move in and start making yourself at home. Q: Do you offer specialised dementia care? A: Yes. We offer dementia specific aged care in our care homes, with secure memory support units for more advanced dementia care needs. Q: How much does Aged Care cost? A: This varies depending on the home and the resident’s financial circumstances. The basic daily fee covers your day-to-day living costs. All residents are required to pay this fee, which set by the government and equates to 85% of the single aged pension. Depending on your financial situation, the government may ask you to contribute to your care costs though a means-tested care fee. The accommodation fee covers the room that you live in. The Department of Human Services will determine whether we will ask you to pay this fee. Q: What’s the difference between Retirement Living and Aged Care? A: Retirement Living allows you to live independently while having access to Home Care support services, as well as amenities and a like-minded community. Aged Care provides 24/7 care and support. Q: Can I leave the residence to go on outings? A: Yes - friends and family are welcome to come pick you up for outings. We can also organise personal carers to take you on an outing - additional costs may apply. Q: What sort of retirement living lifestyle activities are available at Mayflower? A: At Mayflower you can choose how you want to live, from simply relaxing in the privacy of your own home, to actively engaging with the Mayflower community, with facilities and lifestyle options to meet differing desires.
