Celebrating the Queen’s Birthday and Jubilee at Mayflower Reservoir

At Mayflower Reservoir, our community recently came together to celebrate a special occasion—Her Royal Highness the Queen’s Birthday and Jubilee. The day was filled with nostalgia, joy, and a sense of unity as residents honored a remarkable milestone.

The festivities kicked off with a delightful high tea party, where freshly made scones with jam and cream were served, adding a touch of traditional British charm to the occasion. The pièce de résistance was a giant replica of Big Ben, standing tall as a tribute to the Queen’s enduring legacy.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as everyone gathered to sing the anthem “God Save the Queen.” For many residents, this moment was particularly poignant, evoking memories of when the anthem was Australia’s own. Janis, one of our cherished residents, reflected on this with a smile: “I remember back when I was in school, and we had to sing it every morning!”

The event was more than just a celebration; it was a walk down memory lane for many. It reminded everyone of the strong ties Australia once shared with the United Kingdom and the impact of the Queen’s long and storied reign.

As the day came to a close, the Mayflower Reservoir community felt a renewed sense of connection, not only to the past but also to each other. The Queen’s Birthday and Jubilee celebration was a beautiful reminder of the rich history our residents have lived through and the shared experiences that continue to bring us together.
