Honouring Women Across Generations – A Mother’s Day to Remember

Mother’s Day is more than a date on the calendar – it’s a time to honour the many remarkable women who bring warmth, wisdom and strength to our community each and every day.

From mums, grandmothers and great-grandmothers to aunties, sisters, fur-baby mums and lifelong friends – we celebrate every woman and the meaningful roles they hold in our lives. This year, all three Mayflower homes embraced the occasion with open hearts, turning Mother’s Day into a week of connection, pampering, celebration and reflection.

Shared Moments, Special Memories

At Mayflower Brighton, residents gathered for a beautiful luncheon, with tables set for celebration and a menu thoughtfully designed by our chefs. The room was filled with conversation and laughter, as residents and their guests enjoyed time together over a delicious meal made with care.

Over at Mayflower Reservoir and Mayflower Edith Bendall, residents and their loved ones were invited to a charming high tea experience. From ribbon sandwiches and delicate tarts to scones and sweet slices, the food was as delightful as the company.

The addition of live music made for a joyful atmosphere, with some guests even tapping their toes or humming along to favourite tunes.

Meaningful Gifts and Joyful Experiences

Each woman was acknowledged with a small gift and welcomed to take part in themed activities tailored to their interests.

These included creative arts and crafts, pampering manicures, and even strawberries and champagne served in Mayflower Edith Bendall’s garden courtyard – creating a relaxed and elegant setting to mark the day.

The week was a meaningful way to honour not just mothers, but all women – as nurturers, role models, carers, and companions.

As speaker and author Cheryl Lacey Donovan said, “Mother is a verb. It’s something you do. Not just who you are.”

And this sentiment rings true at Mayflower – where love, support and community are shared in many ways, every day.
