Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine Across Mayflower

Last week residents across Mayflower rolled up their sleeves to receive their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Some of our team joined in, taking the opportunity to access surplus vaccines.

Both residents and team members were keen to do their part in helping keep each other, and their loved ones, safe from COVID-19.

And no more so than Jacquie, a resident of Mayflower Brighton, who has been wishing for a vaccine since the beginning.

“We were wishing for a vaccine to be invented for a long time,” says Jacquie, “I’m very happy to do my part for society and take the vaccine.”

We have now had two resident vaccination clinics for residents at each of our homes, and the majority of residents are now vaccinated for COVID-19.

Surplus vaccines from these clinics were taken up by our employees, with our remaining staff urged to get their vaccinations urgently from the recently opened vaccination hubs. We continue to support employees to receive the vaccination, with numbers rising every day.

Registered Nurse, Kristina was one of the first team members to roll up her sleeve, and felt it was an important step toward a new covid-normal Australia.

“Working with some of the most vulnerable people, I really felt it was important to get the vaccination as soon as it became available, so I could do my part to help keep them safe,” she says.

Robert, our Executive Officer of Mayflower Reservoir, is proud of his team for getting the jab with enthusiasm and a smile on their faces.

“I’m so proud of our team!” he says, “they did an amazing job and lined up for their vaccinations with big smiles on their faces.”

Mayflower Brighton resident Charles felt he wanted to set an example for others, and even brought along a magazine article that highlighted the importance of taking the vaccine.

“I’m here to advertise,” Charles says with a smile, “I believe the vaccine is an important step.”
